Honda Motor Co. Ltd. breaks ground on a new $15 million Acura Design Center, expanding the auto maker’s product development complex in Torrance, CA.

The center is slated to open in summer 2007, when it will be charged with creating concepts and designs for future Acura products.

The ceremony, March 27, marked the 20th anniversary of Acura, Honda’s luxury brand.

Separately, Honda is opening a new advanced design studio in Pasadena to concentrate on new future design concepts.

It brings Honda’s total number of R&D facilities in the state to four.
