Buick’s large cross/utility vehicle, the Enclave, will start at $32,740 for the front-wheel-drive model, with pricing aimed at the luxury cross/utility vehicle market’s middle ground.

The ’07 Enclave arrives at dealerships in June in CX and CXL trim. The all-wheel-drive CX stickers at $34,790. The FWD CXL bases at $34,990, while its AWD companion starts at $36,990. All prices include a $735 destination fee.

Buick’s first CUV will try to lowball segment leaders, including American Honda Motor Co. Inc.’s ’07 Acura MDX, which starts at $39,995.

General Motors Corp.’s new 275-hp, 3.6L V-6 powertrain with variable valve timing moves to the Enclave, mated to the auto maker’s new 6-speed automatic transmission being introduced for the first time.

The Enclave, which begins production this spring at GM’s Delta Township (MI) plant, will share the assembly line with the ’07 Saturn Outlook and ’07 GMC Acadia.

All three ride on the GM’s Global Midsize Architecture (Lambda). Pricing on both the Outlook and Acadia begins below $30,000.
