Audi Shows Sketch of Upcoming New-Gen TT

The Audi TT sport coupe goes back to its roots with the new-generation model that makes its public debut at the Geneva auto show in March.

Reminiscent of the first-generation car, the new ’15 model presents an athletic stance, with wide wheel arches that intersect with the hood opening and a long tornado line that extends from front to rear. The back end slopes at a steeper angle and there’s a slight kink in the C-pillar that adds motion to the design.

The front end features Audi’s wide-mouth grille with the brand’s signature rings now positioned in the center of the leading edge of the hood. Headlamps are trapezoidal in shape and can be ordered with LED lighting or Audi’s Matrix LED technology that allows individual LEDs to generate the main beam.

Audi is holding back on powertrain details, though a 2.0L TSI 4-cyl. generating about 220 hp is a most likely starting point, and a 1.8L also is a possibility.

The move back to styling more in line with the TT’s first generation marks a retreat of sorts for Audi. It shifted away from the more rounded design toward the present car’s more linear styling beginning in 2006 as a way to increase its appeal with male buyers.
