Jaguar Land Rover names Grant McPherson executive director-manufacturing, taking over from Wolfgang Stadler, who is retiring.

McPherson, now the U.K. automaker’s quality and automotive safety director, is to join the board of management and take on his new role July 1, reporting directly to JLR CEO Ralf Speth.

He will be responsible for more than 20,000 members of the company’s U.K. and global manufacturing operations and logistics teams.

Stadler retires at the end of June, having joined the U.K. automaker from BMW in 2013.

Speth says McPherson will oversee JLR’s investments in U.K. and global manufacturing, including transforming plants to handle the automaker’s electrified future.

McPherson held several positions at Honda before joining JLR in 2011 as operations director at the Castle Bromwich assembly plant. He has been in his current role since 2013.
