Mitsubishi Debuting Prototype X Concept in Detroit
From the sketches released, the Lancer Evolution concept has the same aggressive grille as the new ’08 Lancer but with performance-oriented hood scoops and large tires.
Mitsubishi Motors North America Inc. releases sketches and information on the two vehicles it will be showing at next month’s North American International Auto Show in Detroit: the already-announced new Lancer compact car and a concept called Prototype X.
The future high-performance Lancer Evolution model, going on sale late next year, will be hinted at with the concept, Mitsubishi says, noting the Prototype X’s “high-performance engine, excellent dynamics and striking design will appeal to enthusiasts worldwide.”
Concept sketches reveal the same aggressive grille as the new ’08 Lancer but with performance-oriented hood scoops, large tires and a taller rear spoiler.
The ’08 Lancer will debut in early 2007 at U.S. Mitsubishi dealerships.
Both the production Lancer and concept car will be unveiled Jan. 8 at the Detroit show.
