Mitsubishi Thailand Hits Production Milestone
Some 1,148,000 current-gen L200s have been sold since 2005, with Thai domestic deliveries totaling 263,000 units and export volume reaching 885,000.
Mitsubishi Thailand passes the 1.1 million-unit mark for global sales of the locally built, current-generation L200 pickup truck launched in 2005.
The truck is known as the Triton in Thailand and some world markets.
Mitsubishi Thailand President Masahiko Ueki says 1,148,000 L200s have been sold, with Thai domestic deliveries totaling 263,000 units and export volume reaching 885,000.
The 77% export share reflects the warm welcome the L200 has received in the 158 countries where it is available, he says.
“This is especially true in Europe, the ASEAN (trade region) and the Middle East,” Ueki says in a statement.
Europe is the largest export market for the L200 with 198,530 units, with the U.K. (54,900), Turkey (25,367), Germany (16,429), Italy (15,773), France (12,879) and Spain (10,216) forming the European top six.
Ueki says the positive contribution should continue with the announcement of an all-new L200 pickup truck to be launched in autumn.
“(It’s) a striking (low-emissions) vehicle taking many of its design cues from the acclaimed 2013 Concept GR-HEV show car,” he says of the new model.
