BMW will unveil two concepts and several refreshed or new offerings at the Los Angeles Auto Show, some with an increased focus on hybrid technology.

The i8 Concept Roadster blends sleek styling with fuel efficiency with a electric/gasoline hybrid powertrain. The German auto maker says the roadster has 354 hp and goes zero-to-60 mph (97 km/h) in 4.6 seconds. A rechargeable lithium-ion battery helps boost its 78 mpg (3 L/100 km) rating, BMW says.

BMW also will show its ’13 ActiveHybrid 3 and ActiveHybrid 5 production models, both powered by electric/gasoline engines. Each model carries a li-ion battery and promises zero emissions during urban driving or coasting.

Developed with ski-maker K2, BMW will introduce its K2 Powder Ride concept, based on the X1 CUV. The concept features a ski-ready roof structure unlike any other BMW vehicle, matte paint accents, 19-in. alloy wheels and a 320-watt sound system.

Other production vehicles BMW will include its refreshed 7-Series; a performance-edition X6 cross/utility; M5 sedan; M6 coupe, returning after a 2-year hiatus; all-new 650i Gran Coupe; and a diesel-powered X5 CUV.
