SGM First in China to Reach 1 Million Milestone

The 1 millionth car, a Buick LaCrosse sedan, was presented to a local businessman in a ceremony earlier today.

Shanghai General Motors Co. Ltd. delivers its 1 millionth car in China for 2010, becoming the first automotive manufacturer in China to break that barrier in a single calendar year.

The keys to the 1 millionth car, a Buick LaCrosse sedan, were presented in a ceremony to Shanghai businessman Zhang Yun by Shanghai GM President Ding Lei.

This year, SGM has sold about 500,000 Buicks, 490,000 Chevrolets and 16,000 Cadillacs.

SGM, in business in China now for 12 years, is a joint venture between General Motors Co. and Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp.
