Chevrolet Trax CUV Earns Top European Safety Rating
The Trax is the seventh Chevrolet model to receive the safety agency’s top rating, joining the Aveo, Volt, Cruze, Orlando, Malibu and Captiva.
Chevrolet’s all-new Trax small cross/utility vehicle is awarded the top 5-star safety rating by the European New Car Assessment Program.
The Renault Captur also achieves a 5-star rating, while the Dacia Sandero gets four stars and the Nissan Evalia three.
The Trax, evaluated under new, more stringent 2013 Euro NCAP protocols, is the seventh Chevrolet model to receive the program’s top rating, joining the Aveo, Volt, Cruze, Orlando, Malibu and Captiva.
Susan Docherty, president and managing director-Chevrolet and Cadillac Europe, says the Trax scored 94% in the adult-occupant category. The CUV earns maximum points in the side-barrier test, providing occupants with good protection for all body regions.
The Trax also achieves good scores for protection against frontal impact and against whiplash injury in the event of a rear-impact crash, thanks to adjustable seat and head restraints. In the child-occupant category, the vehicle receives favorable results in the side-impact test and in child-restraint installation.
Euro NCAP awards maximum points to the Trax for pedestrian safety, noting its bumpers provide good protection for pedestrians in all areas.
The Trax’s standard safety equipment, including electronic stability control and speed- limitation assistance, meets Euro NCAP’s test requirements in the safety-assist category.
