GM Launches Chevrolet Trailblazer Assembly in Russia
The SUV’s assembly is an additional program for the St. Petersburg facility, which also builds Chevrolet Cruze and Opel Astra sedans and hatchbacks from CKD kits.
VIENNA – General Motors begins volume assembly of the Chevrolet Trailblazer SUV from semi-knocked-down kits at its GM Avto plant in St. Petersburg, Russia.
Russian Chevrolet dealers have been taking orders since early March for the new, midsize Trailblazer positioned between the Chevrolet Captiva and Tahoe models.
The vehicle is offered with a 180-hp 2.8L 4-cyl.diesel engine with manual and automatic gearboxes and a 239-hp 3.6L V-6 gasoline powerplant with an automatic transmission.
In Russia, the diesel version starts at RR1.44 million ($45,768), while the least-expensive gasoline-powered Trailblazer costs RR1,777,000 ($56,323).
Trailblazer assembly means an additional program for the GM Avto factory. The main activity of the St. Petersburg facility is the assembly of Chevrolet Cruze and Opel Astra sedans and hatchbacks from complete-knocked-down kits.
