At DeNooyer Chevrolet in Albany, NY, they call salesman Steve Gordon “Flash Gordon,” after the old comic strip character, because of his enthusiastic and animated personality.
He is celebrating his 25th anniversary at the dealership where colleagues say that, although his high spirits and knowledge of the auto industry has aided his success, it is his consistently superb customer service that has put him at the top 1% of his field.
For instance, he continuously manages his customer database by sending bi-monthly “just because” note cards and personalized birthday cards to all of his customers and prospects. It leads to a lot of repeat business.
“I just bought a Chevy Trailblazer from Steve,” says Richard Burke of East Greenbush, NY. “It's the 12th car I've purchased from him since 1977.”
Gordon has won salesman of the year 15 times and has sold over 4,000 cars for the dealership.
He prefers to think of himself as a problem solver rather than a salesman.
He is known for helping his customers that drive a lot of mileage annually get the best deal for their money, or by specializing in helping physically challenged customers locate handicapped accessible accessories.
“Because I have been around for so long, I know where to turn to take care of my customers needs” Gordon says.
He praises the DeNooyer family for its customer focus. “I wouldn't think of working anywhere else.” he says.
