Saab Taps Shannon as U.S. General Manager

Steve Shannon, who joined GM in 1982, has held positions in field sales, marketing and product planning in the U.S. and Europe.

Saab Automobile USA names Steve Shannon as general manager, replacing Jay Spenchian, who is appointed executive director, General Motors Corp. Vehicle Sales.

Both appointments are effective immediately, GM says.

Shannon, who joined GM in 1982, has held positions in field sales, marketing and product planning in the U.S. and Europe.

In his most recent position as general manager of Buick, Shannon oversaw the launch of critical new Buick products, including the Lucerne sedan and Enclave cross/utility vehicle.

Shannon also has served as executive director of marketing services for GM’s vehicle sales, service and marketing division in both the U.S. (2000-2005) and Europe (1997-2000).
