Jaguar Ends U.K. Sales Ahead of Switch to BEV Manufacturing in 2026
Jaguar sticks to its mission to be an exclusively BEV maker by 2026 despite the current increased consumer demand for hybrid powertrain technology.
Jaguar plays the Last Post on new-car sales in the U.K. on Armistice Day as it plans its relaunch as an exclusively battery-electric vehicle maker in two years’ time.
The move to end sales on Nov. 11 will be seen as out-of-kilter with other automakers such as Bentley, which is delaying its own switch to full BEV manufacturing from 2030 to 2035, doubling down on hybrid technology development to meet growing consumer demand.
Yet, Jaguar pulls the plug on sales of F-Type, XE and XF in the U.K., while sales of its I-Pace and E-Pace models will end next month with only the F-Pace SUV available in non-domestic markets until early 2026, British auto magazine Autodrive reports.
CEO Adrian Mardell tells the magazine that the first of their three future BEVs is already in testing regimes with the first reveal set for summer 2026.
A flagship model will be a performance, 4-door sedan designed to compete with premium products such as the Porsche Taycan. This new electric range will eventually include two luxury SUVs, all built on Jaguar’s next-gen electric platform, to compete against the Bentley SUV scheduled to come to market in 2026.
WardsAuto reported in September that the Jaguar Land Rover Group was committing to investing $700 million in its Land Rover production facility in Halewood for BEV production while keeping production of hybrid and internal-combustion-engine models alongside.
