New Turbocharged Ferrari California Headed for Geneva

TURIN – Ferrari is reacting quickly to align its production cars with new Formula 1 rules that have turbocharging technology making a comeback, as it will release a new version of its California convertible at the Geneva auto show in March.

The new Ferrari California T will feature a 3.8L turbocharged V-8 that generates 559 hp at 7,500 rpm and peak torque of 557 lb.-ft. (755 Nm). That will take the 2+2 sports car from 0-62 mph (100 km/h) in 3.6 seconds, the Italian automaker says.

Fuel economy also is improved 15% from the outgoing model, despite the additional 70 hp and 49% hike in peak torque, Ferrari says.
