New on the market is Chrome Pre-Owned, a used-vehicle configuration and valuation tool for the web.

It combines Chrome Systems Corp.'s configuration technology with used values from NADAguides, giving auto buyers and sellers the capability to research prices and used-vehicle values online.

It integrates with Chrome Carbook, a new-vehicle configurator and pricing tool.

Chrome and NADAguides are partnering on data sharing. It's billed as an unprecedented alliance.

Chrome became the new-vehicle pricing and configuration services provider for Nadaguides.com and Nadaguides became the pre-owned vehicle valuation provider for Chrome's research and pricing tools.

“Chrome Carbook combined with the newly launched Chrome Pre-Owned product fills a significant void in the marketplace,” says Len Sims, vice president, NADAguides.com, “No other competitive valuation company offers more market-reflective data in a more streamlined solution than the products provided by Chrome and NADAguides.com. This is a win for businesses and consumers alike.”

A Friedman-Swift Associates study says nearly 50% of car shoppers research both new and used vehicles online before making a purchasing decision.

The joint system allows consumers to do new things, such as side-by-side new- and used-vehicle comparisons as well as new vs. used vs. actual dealer inventory comparisons.

They're intended to allow IT managers to incorporate and customize them. Chrome's clientele includes half of all automotive dealers in the U.S. and Canada. The company provides vehicle content, vehicle ordering and inventory management tools, configuration technology and services.
