SUMMARY:
U.S. automakers delivered 1.33 million light vehicles in February. A daily sales rate of 55,246 units over 24 days represented a 1.1% decline from like-2016 (also 24 days).
The seasonally adjusted annual rate of sales for the month came to 17.47 million units, compared with year-ago’s 17.60 million and January’s 17.48 million mark.
Year-to-date volume was 2,463,496 units, down 1.4% from like-2016.
GM grabbed a 17.9% share of the market, followed by Ford with 15.3%. Toyota finished in the No.3 spot with a 13.1% share. FCA took 12.6% of all sales. Nissan (10.2%) and Nissan (9.2%) followed.
UPDATE 1:38 PM ET:
Subaru sales totaled 45,500 units, up 8.3% from year-ago.
BMW came in 2.5% below February 2016 with 24,712 vehicles sold.
Daimler sold 27,712 LVs for 6.8% gain.
UPDATE 11:55 AM ET:
Toyota posted a 7.2% drop from year ago, selling 174,339 vehicles.
Honda sold 121,686 units, up 2.3%.
UPDATE 10:33 AM ET:
GM posted sales of 237,388 light vehicles in February, up 4.2% from like-2016.
Ford delivered 202,726 LVs, 4.1% below prior-year.
FCA took a larger downturn, falling 10.4% to 166,736 LV sales.
Nissan sold 135,740 units over the month, a 3.7% improvement on last year.
