Malaysia Sales Up 0.2% in November, Output Off 26.2%

Malaysian Automotive Assn. data shows the year-to-date result was up 1.3% at 521,907 units. Car sales for the first 11 months were up 2.1% from year-ago at 456,603, while commercial-vehicle deliveries dropped 5.1% to 55,304.

Festival-season promotions saw Malaysia’s November new-vehicle sales edge up just 0.2% year-on-year to 49,184 units, but encouragingly, the result was up 4.6% on October.

Malaysian Automotive Assn. data shows the year-to-date result was up 1.3% at 521,907 units.

The MAA says in a statement it expects a continuation of the year-end marketing to produce an even stronger result this month.

November car sales edged down 0.1% to 43,152 units, but the small-commercial-vehicle segment jumped 9% to 6,032.

This left 11-month car sales at 456,603 units, up 2.1% from year-ago’s 456,992. CV deliveries dropped 5.1% to 55,304 units.

Malaysian production in November dove 26.2% to 42,358 units, with the car build off 29.1% at 38,212, but CV output was up 18.9% at 4,146.

Market leader Perodua, boosted by the November launch of its all-new Myvi, says in a statement its 11-month sales were up 1.2% to 184,797 units.

With a month to go, year-to-date Malaysian production was down 6.7% at 463,993 units. Car output was down 6.8% at 427,183 units and the CV build off 5.7% at 36,810.
