Mexico Sees June Sales Records
Mexican dealers sell record numbers of cars and light trucks in light-trucks in June.
With consumer confidence at a 7-month high, Mexican buyers again flocked to dealers in record numbers in June, pacing both cars and light trucks to all-time highs for the month.
Total light-vehicle sales of 106,756 bested by 23.3% the prior June benchmark of 86,602 units set in 2006 as consumers reacted positively to results of the June 7 legislative elections as well as to reports of an upturn in the economy due to growing exports of manufactured goods.
At an average of 4,270 vehicles on each of 25 selling days, the June LV tally rose 22.0% above the 3,501-a-day pace in June 2014, when 84,025 vehicles sold in the 24-day period.
Cars again were the driving force behind the industry’s record-June performance, soaring to 70,454 units, 23.6% higher than the month’s prior peak of 54,721 units set a year earlier. It was the third consecutive annual June cars sales record.
Light-truck sales of 36,302 also reached a new June high, the first in nine years, edging the 35,853 units delivered in 2006 by 1.3%.
For the year through June, LV sales reached a record 608,958 units, 15.0% more than the prior peak of 530,422 units sold in January-June 2006 and topping like-2014’s 499,694 deliveries by 21.9%.
