New Utes Get Aluminum

GM's big sport/utility vehicles, including the Suburban, Tahoe and Escalade will get aluminum liftgates in the 2000 model year American Metal Market reports. The application will represent one of the largest applications of flat-rolled aluminum in the North American auto industry, the paper says. Each liftgate is expected to use 30 lbs. (14 kg) of aluminum.
