Ford Motor Co. plans to restructure the executive ranks of its South American and Canadian operations in an effort to maintain the viability of the two units.
Included in the changes is the appointment of Dominic DiMarco to the position of executive director-Canada and South America. In addition, Barry Engle is named president-Ford Mercosul (Argentina, Paraguay, Uraguay, Chile, Bolivia and Peru) and Ford Brazil, reporting to DiMarco.
Both appointments are effective immediately.
DiMarco joined Ford in 1973 and most recently served as executive director-operations support and finance and strategy for Canada, Mexico and South America.
In his new role, he will oversee various South American operations, including product development, more than 500 dealerships, multiple manufacturing plants and the company’s only wholly owned commercial-truck operation, Ford says.
Engle joined Ford in 1992 and has served in various sales and marketing roles for Ford, Lincoln/Mercury and Mazda Motor Corp. in the U.S., Mexico and Japan.
Other changes include the May 3 resignation of Ford South America President Antonio Maciel, who is leaving the company to join Suzano Papel e Celulose S.A. as its new CEO.
Ford says Maciel will remain with the company to ensure a smooth transition during the realignment period. Also remaining with the auto maker are Louise Goeser, president-Ford of Mexico, and William Osborne, president-Ford of Canada.
