DETROIT – The Ford Mustang, F-150 fullsize pickup and Lincoln MKC CUV were named as finalists in the annual North American Car and Truck/Utility of the Year awards along with the Hyundai Genesis luxury sedan, Chevrolet Colorado midsize pickup and Volkswagen Golf/GTI.

The winners for Car of the Year and Truck/Utility of the Year will be announced in January during the first day of press days at the North American International Auto Show. The vehicles were selected from a “short list” of 23 new vehicles selected earlier by the jurors.

Each vehicle is judged on criteria including: general design, fuel economy, handling and general performance, comfort, assembly quality, functionality, technical innovation, and price.

The NACTOY awards are unique because, instead of being given out by a specific group or media outlet, they are chosen by 57 automotive journalists representing a wide variety of media, including WardsAuto.
