Ford will reveal its battery-electric F-150 pickup, the Lightning, at a livestreamed event at the company’s world headquarters in Dearborn, MI.
The reveal will take place at 9:30 p.m. EDT May 19 and will be broadcast live with more than 30 ways to watch across physical and digital platforms, including the Ford Facebook and YouTube channels, Twitter and key national publications as well as 18 remote locations including Times Square in New York City and Las Vegas Boulevard.
The F-150 Lightning brings innovation, technologies and capabilities to the F-Series, America’s best-selling vehicle, combined with all Ford trucks’ power, payload and towing capability, the automaker says in a news release.
“America’s favorite vehicle for nearly half a century is going digital and fully electric,” Ford President and CEO Jim Farley says. “F-150 Lightning can power your home during an outage; it’s even quicker than the original F-150 Lightning performance truck; and it will constantly improve through over-the-air updates.”
Production of the F-150 Lightning begins next spring at the all-new Ford Rouge Electric Vehicle Center, part of the automaker’s Rouge assembly complex in Dearborn.
