Ford Motor Co. aims to retain its leadership in the fullsize-van segment with the new ’09 E-Series, unveiled today at the National Truck Equipment Assn. 2008 Work Truck Show in Atlanta, GA.
For ’09 the E-Series receives a bevy of upgrades.
These include a redesigned instrument panel and console; door trim panels with more storage; built-in auxiliary upfitter switches; more comfortable seats; a first-in-class factory-installed navigation system; and Ford Work Solutions, a suite of technologies designed to boost productivity among business and fleet owners.
Ford Work Solutions consists of an in-dash computer with Internet access; “Tool Link,” a radio-frequency identification system (RFID) for tools and other supplies; “Crew Chief,” a fleet telematics and diagnostic system; and “Cable Lock,” a security system used to tether large, expensive tools to the truck.
The ’09 E-Series also comes available with a reverse camera system, which is activated when the van is shifted into reverse. The video image is displayed on the navigation screen on vans equipped with the option or in the rearview mirror on models without navigation.

All E-Series engines are designed to meet 2010 emission standards, Ford says.
The ’09 E-Series will be built at Ford’s assembly plant in Avon Lake, OH, and will reach dealerships in August.
