Freestyle Earns Top Crash-Test Ratings

Ford Motor Co.’s Freestyle cross/utility vehicle earns the highest crash-test ratings from both the National Highway Traffic Safety Admin. and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

The Freestyle garnered a 5-star rating in NHTSA’s front- and side-impact crash tests. In IIHS testing, the ’06 Freestyle equipped with optional side airbags scored the highest rating for side-impact protection.

Previously, the IIHS named the Freestyle a “best pick” in offset crash-test performance, noting the CUV’s passenger compartment experienced minimal intrusion by maintaining its integrity during a 40-mph (64 km/h) collision.
