AutoSoft Inc. and Automated Data Processing Inc. are the latest information technology firms to contract with General Motors Corp. to deliver Integrated Dealership Management Systems (IDMS) on behalf of GM.
Under a new setup, GM will act as a direct DMS provider to its dealers, with the auto maker contracting with automotive IT vendors. AutoSoft and ADP join two other firms, Reynolds and Reynolds Co. and Quorum Technologies, as endorsed providers that will deliver IDMS on behalf of GM to GM-branded dealerships.
Windows-based DMS offerings will be a foundation of the system. It is being touted as improving automation of dealership accounting, parts, service, payroll, finance and customer relationship management operations.
The goal is to simplify technology requirements and streamline operations. The anticipated result is improved productivity and increased customer satisfaction for GM-brand dealerships and the auto maker.
“We have had a long and successful relationship with General Motors and this move will only enhance our relationship moving forward,” says AutoSoft Chief Operating Officer Charlie Prophet.
