GM Announces Volt Pricing Ahead of China Sales Rollout

The Chevrolet Volt and Camaro, and the Baojun 630, are among the 30 models GM and its two Chinese joint ventures are displaying at the Guangzhou auto show.

GM Announces Volt Pricing Ahead of China Sales Rollout

Shanghai GM sets pricing for the Chevrolet Volt at RMB498,000 ($75,533) ahead of the extended-range electric vehicle’s sales rollout at 13 dealerships in eight major Chinese metropolitan areas.

The Volt is one of 30 vehicles from the Buick, Chevrolet, Cadillac and Baojun brands that Shanghai GM and its other Chinese joint venture, SAIC-GM-Wuling, are showing at the Guangzhou auto show.

Volt EREV priced at $75,533 in China.

Volts will be retailed in host city Guangzhou as well as Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Suzhou, Wuxi, Shenzhen and Foshan.

Shanghai GM also announces pricing for two versions of the Chevrolet Camaro, both equipped with 240-hp 3.6L V-6 SIDI engines.

The JV is asking RMB455,800 ($71,610) for the standard version, which has upgrades including power front-passenger seat, deep-dish steering wheel and rear-view camera system.

Also available is the RMB475,800 ($74,752) Camaro Transformers Special Edition. It will feature logos of Transformers and Autobot characters from the Transformers movie series in which a Camaro portrayed the character “Bumblebee.” Only 150 units will be sold in China.

SAIC-GM-Wuling is showing the Baojun 630, the first sedan offering in its new brand lineup. It is priced from RMB62,800-RMB73,800 ($9,758- $11,467), depending on options.

The Baojun 630 went on sale in select markets in August and recorded deliveries of 5,000 units in October.
