Shanghai GM begins taking orders for the new Malibu, which will be offered in five versions priced from RMB162,900-RMB229,900 ($25,900-$36,500) at 552 Chevrolet dealerships in China.

“The arrival of the Malibu ushers in a new era for Chevrolet in China, giving our mainstream brand a complete lineup of passenger cars,” says GM China President and Managing Director Kevin Wale. “It will meet the diverse needs of the new generation of professionals and distinguish itself in the upper-medium passenger car segment.”

The segment has grown rapidly to become one of China’s largest, driven largely by younger buyers.

The Malibu is in regular production in Korea and went on sale there in October.
