Developed at the GM and SAIC Pan-Asia Technical Automotive Center joint venture in Shanghai, the Baojun 630 is powered by GM’s high-performance 1.5L P-TEC engine and 5-speed transmission. The engine develops 81 hp at 5,800 rpm and maximum torque of 146 Nm at 4,200 rpm.
GM China says the vehicle’s fuel consumption is best in China's midsize sedan segment at 34 mpg (6.9L/100 km). It meets all of China's emission standards and the advanced Euro 4 standard.
The body contains 56% high-strength steel, and front surfaces are specially contoured to provide deflection in the event of colliding with a pedestrian. The interior has 22 storage compartments.
