General Motors Corp. closes out its summer sell-down season with cash bonuses on most '06 and '07 vehicles through the Labor Day weekend.
GM will offer cash bonuses of $500, $1,000 or $1,500 on the majority of cars and trucks across its eight brands starting today (Aug. 29) through Sept. 5, the day after Labor Day. The sales discounts also include 0% financing on nearly all ’06 vehicles.
Exempt from the offer are the fast-selling Pontiac Solstice and Saturn Sky roadsters, as well as the new midsize Saturn Aura sedan and Vue Green Line mild hybrid SUV. Also excluded are all Chevrolet Corvettes, the ’07 GMC Yukon/Yukon XL Denali, and the ’07 Cadillac Escalade.
GM has moved away from offering long-term incentives, such as last summer’s “Employee Discounts for All” program. The current sales strategy, begun in second-half 2005, relies less on incentives and more on sticker prices closer to actual transaction prices.
GM says it reduced its incentives by $946 per unit in first-half 2006.
