GM Holden names company veteran George Kapitelli as its new chief financial officer.
Kapitelli, 45, began his career at General Motors’ Australian subsidiary in 1987 as finance analyst and costing manager for Holden Engine Operations.
His first overseas assignment was in 1996 to Thailand, where he helped launch the GM Thailand start-up program as costing manager before becoming new-business-development director.
This was followed by two senior finance positions with GM Europe and GM Indonesia before Kapitelli returned to GM Holden in 2003 as finance director-vehicle sales, service and marketing during the run-up to the Holden VE Commodore launch.
Kapitelli has spent the past six years in senior executive roles in China as finance director-vehicle sales, service and marketing for the Shanghai GM joint venture in 2006 and vice president and chief financial officer of SAIC GM Wuling Automobile in 2009.
He now reports to GM Holden Chairman and Managing Director Mike Devereux.
