Dongfeng Honda Automobile Co. Ltd. has begun to take pre-orders for the all-new Honda Civic compact car, going on sale in China April 22.

Dongfeng Honda, a joint venture of Honda Motor Co. Ltd. and China’s Dongfeng Motor Group Co., aims to sell 50,000 Civics this year through 90 dealerships.

Like the Civic sold in North America, the Chinese-built car will have a 1.8L 4-cyl. engine and best-in-class fuel economy, meeting Euro 4 emission standards.

Dongfeng Honda earlier increased capacity to accommodate production of the new Civic. It already builds Honda’s CR-V small cross/utility vehicle at its Wuhan, Hubei province, plant.
