Honda Civic Type R Limited Edition Up for Grabs
Donations to the Honda sweepstakes will support the Thurgood Marshall College Fund, which supports 47 public Historically Black Colleges and Universities, medical schools and law schools.
Honda sponsors a sweepstakes offering a 2021 Civic Type R Limited Edition, along with a racetrack experience with Honda IndyCar driver Colton Herta.
Teaming with online fundraising platform Omaze, Honda is offering the first Type R Limited Edition for the U.S. market – Serial Plate 001. Entries will be accepted through 2:59 a.m. EST Feb. 19, 2021, by accessing Omaze.com and using the password CivicTypeR.
All donations will support the Thurgood Marshall College Fund, which supports 47 public Historically Black Colleges and Universities, medical schools and law schools and is the nation's largest organization exclusively representing the Black college community. The fund currently is running a COVID-19 Emergency Fund, which provides support for students in areas such as technology, mental health, housing and food insecurity.
Donations are not required to enter the sweepstakes. The lowest suggested donation to the Thurgood Marshall College Fund is $10.
“Historically Black Colleges and Universities have been greatly impacted by COVID-19, and many of our students don't have a safety net,” Harry L. Williams, president and CEO of TMCF, says in a statement. “This initiative to give away a Honda Civic Type R Limited Edition will help us continue to provide much-needed assistance to our students and schools.”
The Honda Civic Type R arrived in the U.S. in 2017. The Limited Edition model, painted Phoenix Yellow, takes the already high-performance Type R to the next level through changes in engineering and features designed to maximize its potential while remaining street-legal, Honda says. The Serial Plate 001 Civic Type R Limited Edition is the first of 600 Limited Edition models planned for the U.S. market.
The next-generation Honda Civic Type R will arrive in the coming years, after the fully redesigned ’22 Civic compact launches late next spring.
