Honda Sets 2017 Sales Record in Asia, Oceania Region
The main contributor to Honda’s regional result was Indonesia with 180,971 deliveries, although that was off 5% from the 2016 total.
Honda sets a sales record in the Asia & Oceania region in 2017, with deliveries up 12% year-over-year to 793,636 units.
The automaker set annual sales records in Malaysia (up 19% to 109,511 units), Philippines (up 37% to 31,758), Vietnam (up 10% to 12,358), Taiwan (up 25% to 33,978), and Pakistan (up 47% to 47,424).
The main contributor to Honda’s regional result was Indonesia with 180,971 deliveries, although that was off 5% from the 2016 total.
Sales in India rose 9% to 179,451 units for a 23% market share, while the Thailand result was up 19% at 27,768.
Other regional markets included Australia, up 15% at 46,783; South Korea, ahead 55% at 10,308; Singapore, up 1% at 7,164; and New Zealand, up 17% at 4,631.
Among models, the all-new 10th-generation Civic saw a 51% increase to 89,850 units, while the City was Honda’s top seller with 169,124.
Global models HR-V (102,192 units) and Jazz (99,534) – badged as Fit in North America – also were strong sellers as was the all-new CR-V, up 43% at 62,987.
