Eighteen automakers participated in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations NCAP awards program recognizing the high achievers and promoting competition to produce safer vehicles.
Honda is the big winner at Southeast Asia’s first safety awards, marking 1,000 days since the establishment of the region’s New Car Assessment Program (NCAP).
Eighteen automakers participated in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations NCAP awards program, an event designed to reward the high achievers and promote competition to produce safer vehicles.
The results are based on the highest scores achieved during ASEAN NCAP crash tests conducted by the Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (MIROS) under an agreement with Global NCAP.
Honda picked up six of the awards.
ASEAN NCAP Secretary-General Khairil Anwar Abu Kassim says the ASEAN NCAP program aims to grow stronger and become an influential platform for car safety.
“I’m looking forward for healthy competition among the manufacturers to produce safer cars with commendable safety standard,” he says in a statement. “I am looking forward for a 5-star car with an affordable price in the region, and perhaps with one or two variants per model, with safety not being compromised.”
