A joint program between American Honda Motor Co Inc. and XM Satellite Radio could provide additional profits for dealers while helping them sell more certified pre-owned vehicles.
Under the program, Honda will provide at no cost three months of complimentary XM service in any of its Certified Pre-Owned vehicles equipped with XM Satellite Radio. Activation fees are waived.
“Honda customers have increasingly come to expect the availability of XM Satellite Radio in their vehicles,” Honda Automobile Remarketing Manager Dan Crowe says. “This program offers Honda certified used-car customers added value and further differentiates certified used cars from run-of-the-mill used cars.”
The announcement comes on the heels of a similar program launched by XM and Acura, Honda’s mid-luxury car division. Between both programs, the partnership is expected to make XM service available in more than 35,000 CPO vehicles this year. Last year, Honda saw CPO sales exceed 185,000 units while Acura CPO sales totaled about 37,000 units.
Honda vehicles equipped with the XM service include the Ridgeline, Pilot, Element, Odyssey, CR-V, Accord, Accord Hybrid, Civic and Civic Hybrid.
