New Honda Gets 4 of 5 Stars in SE Asia Safety Tests

A Honda HR-V gets a 4-star rating after crash testing by the Malaysia-based New Car Assessment Program for the Southeast Asian region (ASEAN NCAP).

The Thai-built compact SUV without seatbelt reminders for front occupants achieved the 4-star result for both adult-occupant protection and child-occupant protection with 73% compliance.

ASEAN NCAP says in a statement another variant of the HR-V achieved a maximum 5-star rating due to the fitment of a seatbelt reminder for the front passenger, a prerequisite for five stars in the region’s safety-testing program.

The HR-V is the latest addition to the Honda range after the facelift of the Honda CR-V and is intended to cater to the high demand for affordable compact SUVs.
