Karma Automotive reveals its first-ever limited-edition Revero plug-in hybrid-electric vehicle, the Aliso Edition.
Karma CEO Liang Zhou outlined Karma’s business and product strategy during employee gatherings at the automaker’s headquarters in Irvine, CA; its assembly plant in Moreno Valley, CA; and its Michigan Technical Center in Troy, MI.
Zhou joined Karma in December after serving as CEO and president of Beijing Foton-Daimler Automotive.
“We will remain true to our unique luxury segment defined by exclusive design and craftsmanship, intuitive and integrated high technology, an owner experience with unrivaled treatment and customization that allows every Karma vehicle to be unique,” Zhou says in a statement.
Karma Automotive evolved from the defunct Fisker Automotive, which built 2,200 units of the Karma luxury PHEV before declaring bankruptcy in November 2013 after six years in business.
A year later, Chinese-based auto-parts conglomerate Wanxiang Group bought the rights to the Karma vehicle design and tooling as well as its manufacturing facility. Karma is reported to be producing 150 hand-assembled ’18 Karma Revero models this year and up to 300 next year.
Pricing for the Revero, a direct descendant of the Fisker Karma, starts at $130,000. It has a top speed of 125 mph (201 km/h) and can be driven up to 50 miles (80 km) emissions-free with a total range of 300 miles (483 km). A solar-powered roof panel charges the batteries to extend the battery range.
