Hyundai confirms a 3-row Ioniq will be introduced to the U.S. as a 2025 model later this year. The Ioniq 7 is a 7-seat model that will join an updated Ioniq 5.

The new 3-row battery-electric CUV is built on Hyundai’s E-GMP platform, with over 300 miles (483 km) of range and the ability to fast-charge in under 20 minutes. The electric powertrain – 601 hp / 448 kW (223 hp / 166-kW front motor + 378 hp / 282-kW rear motor) is Dual Motor all-wheel-drive.

While some automakers are delaying BEVs in the utility vehicle categories until consumer demand rebounds, Hyundai is asserting its transition to electrification with more models it feels buyers are waiting for.

Hyundai posted a 15% sales gain among its BEVs in the second quarter, though discounting, especially with less-expensive lease deals, is driving BEV sales increases across the board.

The Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6 set new sales records in the second quarter. The average lease deal for the Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6 is $269 per month, with $2,000 down and 12,000 miles (19,320 km) per year, according to TrueCar.com. Posters on the social media site Reddit are saying they are finding monthly lease payments as low as $237.

Hyundai says the 3-row Ioniq 7 will make its global debut later this year.

Hyundai confirms the 2025 Ioniq 5 will be the first off the assembly line at its new $7.6 billion BEV plant in Georgia in October. BEVs built at the plant are expected to qualify for the federal $7,500 tax credit, according to Hyundai.
