Hyundai Motor Mfg. Alabama LLC announces it produced the first salable Santa Fe cross/utility vehicle at its Montgomery, AL, plant April 18.

The ’07 Santa Fe is the second vehicle to be built at HMMA, following the ’06 Sonata midsize sedan, which began salable production at Montgomery last May.

HMMA says when “sufficient variety of vehicle trim and color choices” are reached, it will begin shipping the CUV to Hyundai’s North American dealers.

HMMA’s total capacity is 300,000 units annually, expected to be split evenly between the Sonata and Santa Fe.
