Hyundai Motor Co. Ltd. releases a teaser sketch of the new B-segment ʼ11 ix20 multipurpose vehicle it will unveil at the Paris auto show Sept. 30.
The new entry will go on sale in Europe in the fourth quarter, the auto maker says.
The ix20 will not be sold in the U.S., a Hyundai spokesman says.
The new model will be produced at Hyundai’s plant in Nosovice, Czech Republic. It has seating for four and will be offered with three engines: the gasoline Gamma 1.4L and 1.4L and 1.6L diesel versions.
The ix20 was designed and developed at the Hyundai R&D Center in Russelsheim, Germany.
It features the auto maker’s “fluidic sculpture” styling theme to attain a graceful, sporty appearance usually not found in an MPV, Hyundai says.
The Hyundai ix20 will be offered with a 5-year unlimited warranty, plus five years of roadside assistance and free vehicle checkups.
Hyundai also plans to debut its new 2011 i10 city car at the Paris show.
The new A-segment i10 will be powered by a new 1.0L gas engine that limits carbon-dioxide emissions to 99g/km.
