Hyundai Motor Co. Ltd. will unveil its concept C-segment hatchback, the Arnejs, at this week’s Paris auto show
The Arnejs (pronounced ‘ar-nez’) hints at Hyundai’s production C-car set to go on sale in the middle of next year in Europe and compete against such popular vehicles as the Volkswagen Golf and Ford Focus. The vehicle reportedly will replace the Elantra in Hyundai’s European lineup.
The Arnejs likely will be built at Hyundai’s new vehicle assembly plant in Nosovice, Czech Republic, according to European press reports. Construction of the plant is slated to begin in November.
The design of the Arnejs was crafted at Hyundai’s Russelsheim, Germany, research and development center. It shares a platform with sister company Kia Motors Corp.’s new Cee’d hatchback, also being shown in Paris.
