Hyundai has been naming its concept cars with letters and numbers, meaning its latest project on the way to a Geneva auto show unveiling next month should be called the HED-9.
However, there is always room for improvement, and the 2-door, 4-seat CUV concept has got a name: the Intrado.
A product of Hyundai Motor Europe’s design center in Russelsheim, Germany, the concept provides a window into new areas of development for the Korean automaker, including a new architecture that spawns a new take on the on the small CUV segment that produced the highly successful Nissan Qashqai and Juke.
The Intrado also wears Hyundai’s new design language, dubbed “Fluidic Sculpture 2.0.” Highlights include a more disciplined exterior surface, as well as fewer gadgets and more color and light inside the passenger compartment.
The concept features a hydrogen-fuel-cell powertrain, similar to the one that will be offered in limited volume in Tucson CUVs in Southern California by midyear.
