Hyundai unveils its exclusive Langdong version of the Elantra compact sedan for the Chinese market at the 2012 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition.
The name translates roughly to “dynamic car for the young generation.”
The new model features aggressive wraparound headlamps with similar styling features of Elantras offered in other markets.
Engine choices include Hyundai’s 127-hp 1.6L and 146-hp 1.8L engines, which will be mated with a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission with Hyundai’s Active Eco driving mode.
Premium interior features include a navigation system, air conditioning, ventilated fully adjustable power seats with heaters, push-button start and a liquid-crystal instrument display.
The Langdong will be available with Hyundai’s advanced Blue Link infotainment system with safety and maintenance alerts that include emergency-brake reminder, tire pressure monitor, navigation, remote access and other advanced features.
The Chinese Elantra model will be built at Beijing Hyundai’s third plant in China that is in final construction stages. The facility is expected to launch production sometime in the year’s second half.
