Operations are set to resume later today at General Motors Corp.’s Antwerp, Belgium, plant, ending a temporary labor protest that halted output for several days.

Workers walked out June 13 to protest a GM restructuring initiative that will see next-generation Astra production move from Antwerp to plants in Britain, Germany, Poland and Sweden. The decision will result in 1,400 job cuts at Antwerp.

Workers staged a strike in April immediately after the production switch was announced, but they abandoned the protest after the auto maker offered to build two new vehicles at Antwerp.

The latest strike occurred, according to news reports, because workers remain worried about the breadth of GM’s restructuring plan.

Management is expected to meet with labor over the weekend to discuss issues surrounding the walkout.
