Named after former Lamborghini engineer, Giotto Bizzarrini, the grand tourer Giotto has unveiled as a homage to ICE-powered hypercars by the Bizzarrini brand.

The car is based on the Bizzarrini 5300 GT which the designer Giorgetto Giugiaro, while working at Bertone, helped design some 60 years ago. Following aerodynamic analysis validating the styling, the first full images of The Giotto are revealed, along with the first details of Bizzarrini’s exclusive V12 powertrain.

So far, only a few details of the powertrain have been released. What we are told, however, the naturally aspirated V12 has been developed in collaboration with the famous race-tuning workshop, Cosworth. Its makers say it will meet all worldwide legislative and emission regulations and, in tribute to Giotto Bizzarrini, renowned for his work on the original Lamborghini V12, the rear- to mid- mounted engine will have a capacity of 6,626cc, the date of his birth, 6th June 1926.

The Giotto is designed by Giugiaro, alongside his son Fabrizio at GFG Style in Turin, Italy. A blend of past and present, the father and son designers have tried to capture elements of the Bizzarrini 5300GT and reinterpreted them for the modern era. The prominent dual bonnet vents of original Bizzarrinis are evolved into a new frontal visual character for The Giotto. As the ultra slimline LED headlights converge in the center of the bonnet they cradle the prominent center-mounted Bizzarrini badge, just as it was framed on the 5300 GT.

In line with the original plan, The Giotto will commence on-road testing in late 2024. Rezam Al Roumi, owner of Bizzarrini, said: “The legacy of Giotto Bizzarrini stretches over 60 years and is attributed to many of the most iconic cars and engines of our time, most importantly those bearing his own name. As custodian of this remarkable Brand I am committed to returning Bizzarrini to its rightful place within the luxury automotive sector as well as creating new opportunities to engage and delight our discerning clients.”
