Bridgestone announces a 174 billion Indonesian rupiah ($13 million) joint venture to manufacture anti-vibration rubber products for Indonesian automakers.

The tire manufacturer has hooked up with Indonesian auto-parts producer PT Astra Otoparts, holding 51% and 49% of the JV, respectively.

The JV is to build a plant and begin operations next year.

Bridgestone has seven facilities in five countries manufacturing anti-vibration rubber products for automobiles, which are fitted on the engine and suspension.

The company says it needs to develop a manufacturing base in Indonesia, a major automobile-producing country in the ASEAN region, and the plant will help it reach its goal of becoming a truly global business.
