Americans are putting more miles on their vehicles, 50,000 or more, than on their previous vehicles. Many say they'll keep their vehicle until it dies. So says a survey by AutoMD, an online repair resource.

The survey results suggest consumers are buying vehicles less frequently, opting for more vehicle maintenance and repairs.

Nearly 50% of survey respondents indicate their current vehicle had over 100,000 miles. A combined 69% report they plan to drive their current vehicle for 150,000 or more miles.

“No only are consumers holding onto their vehicles for years longer but, more significantly, for miles longer,” says AutoMD President Shane Evangelist.
