Holden Special Vehicles Records 75,000th Build
The 25-year-old marque is a partnership between General Motors’ Holden subsidiary and Tom Walkinshaw Racing.
An entry-level Club Sport becomes the 75,000th vehicle produced by Australian performance-car manufacturer Holden Special Vehicles since its launch a quarter-century ago.
Managing Director Phil Harding says the landmark car is going to HSV’s best-selling dealership of 2012, Shacks HSV in Fremantle, Western Australia.
Features marking the car as the 75,000th HSV include a 25th Anniversary “start-up” screen, build plate, internal ID plate and sill plates. The owner receives a personalized letter from Harding authenticating the vehicle.
HSV, a partnership between General Motors’ Holden subsidiary and Tom Walkinshaw Racing, began manufacturing operations in July 1987 at its Notting Hill, Victoria, plant, moving in December 1994 to its current production facility in Clayton, Victoria.
In HSV’s first year of production, 1,191 vehicles were built. It reached the 5,000-unit mark in 1991. The 20,000th HSV vehicle built was built in 1997, the 40,000th in 2003 and the 50,000th in 2006.
