Honda Indonesia Sales Surge 36% January Through May

Sales through May saw Honda raise its market share to 20.5% from 15% at the end of 2015. It credits the growth to its new BR-V, which has accounted for 30% of sales with 27,085 units since deliveries began in January.

BR-V outselling established Honda brands by wide margin in Indonesia.

Honda Indonesia reports an industry-leading 36% sales increase to 90,190 units in the first five months of the year in a market that fell 0.6%.

The automaker’s subsidiary in Southeast Asia’s largest automotive market says its sales growth was the strongest among the major brands in the country and predicts its first-half result will top 100,000 units.

Sales from January through May saw Honda raise its market share to 20.5% from 15% at the end of 2015. It credits the growth to its new Honda BR-V compact SUV, which has accounted for 30% of Honda sales with 27,085 units since deliveries began in January.

The HR-V accounted for 21,142 units and the Mobilio 20,426 units.

To support its increasing sales and aftersales demand, Honda is expanding its dealer network across Indonesia and now has 180 dealers with sales, service and spare-parts facilities. It has opened 10 new dealerships so far this year and aims to have 200 in operation by year-end.
