TURIN, Italy – Fiat Industrial signs a €125 million ($163 million) deal with the Iraqi Ministry of Electricity to supply at least 1,660 light- and medium-duty Iveco trucks over the next three years.

The contract includes Daily van and crew-cab models, as well as Eurocargo models ranging 3.9-19.8 tons (3.5 to 18 t).

Most of the vehicles will be equipped with cranes and lifting platforms for the maintenance of the nation's electric-distribution network.

The signing took place in the ministry’s offices in Baghdad in the presence of Italian Ambassador to Iraq Massimo Marotti.

Fiat Industrial says the deal is the latest development in Iveco's ambitious expansion plan for the Africa and Middle East markets, where the truck maker covers all segments from light-dutry to medium- and heavy-duty, with vehicles specifically designed to meet local content requirements and perform under  extreme weather and road conditions.

Worldwide, Iveco manages production sites in 11 countries and operates though a network of some 5,000 sales and services outlets in 160 countries.
